$10.9M for Water in Rankin Inlet

Posted on July 12, 2010

The governments of Canada and Nunavut have made a joint investment of over $10.9 million to support two water and wastewater infrastructure initiatives in Rankin Inlet.

“This two phased project will provide the required infrastructure for future housing development in Rankin Inlet,” said Lorne Kusugak, Minister of Community and Government Services and MLA for Rankin Inlet South – Whale Cove. “Sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure is vital in establishing and constructing these new homes as well as the Rankin Inlet Correctional Facility.”

Phase one of this initiative includes a new water pressure booster station for Rankin Inlet, while phase two is a new wastewater treatment system.
