Southern Ontario company Dufferin Concrete, a division of Holcim Canada Inc., announced today that its entire fleet of over 400 concrete ready-mix vehicles in Ontario has been equipped with Enviroguard, a new self-contained ready-mix truck chute wash-out system which effectively eliminates any concrete chute wash water released into the environment. Dufferin Concrete is the only ready-mix concrete supplier in Ontario to have outfitted its entire fleet with this environmental solution.

With Enviroguard, the ready-mix truck driver simply hoses down the chute and the wastewater collects in a bucket, along with sand, aggregates and cementitious materials, which is then recycled. The system provides an environmentally responsive and economical solution for recycling materials and water that would otherwise be dumped or wasted on a job site.

Dufferin Concrete started introducing the Enviroguard chute washout system on its fleet a little over a year ago and the initiative was the recipient of an Ontario Concrete Awards in 2009.
