The water and wastewater systems in Fredericton will receive $1.4 million in upgrades through a federal-provincial-city project.

The feds are contributing $470,601 under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, with matching contributions from the provincial government and the city.

The project will involve replacing one drinking-water distribution main, reducing the potential for watermain breaks and improving flow in the area. The project will improve wastewater maintenance by reducing the piping from two sanitary mains to one. Three outdated hydrants will also be replaced.
