GLWQA: What Do You Think? |
|
Time is running out! A month away from some serious deadlines, the governments of Canada and the United States are engaging the Great Lakes community as they proceed with the negotiations to amend the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement (GLWQA). To ensure “broad and meaningful” public engagement, they’re inviting public input on a number of issues being addressed during the negotiations. Through the wonders of the internet, concerned parties are able to collaborate and have their voices heard. Check out these webinars, to be held during the week of June 7, 2010. I signed up for Toxic Substances and Ship-Source Pollution (we have a focus on transboundary issues in our upcoming July/August edition, and one on contaminants for September/October). In addition to soliciting input during these webinars, written comments can be submitted through this website up to July 9, 2010. Thanks to Jane Elder for the reminder post, found in her Great Lakes Echo “Desperate Alewives” (hardy-har) column. |
