Manitoba District Celebrates Completion of IWM Plan

Posted on July 5, 2010

Water Stewardship Minister Christine Melnick today congratulated the Seine-Rat River Conservation District and its project management team for completing the Seine River integrated watershed management plan, one of the first plans to be initiated in Manitoba.

“We recognize and appreciate the Seine-Rat River Conservation District’s efforts in working with over 50 organizations and agencies to develop the Seine River integrated watershed management plan,” said Melnick. “I am pleased to accept and approve the Seine River integrated watershed management plan in accordance with the Water Protection Act and I wish the district much success as it works toward implementing this important plan.”

Since the Water Protection Act came into effect in 2005, 24 integrated watershed management plans have been initiated under the leadership of 17 conservation districts.
