The Government of Canada is investing in several New Brunswick wastewater infrastructure upgrades through the federal Gas Tax Fund. Collection and treatment systems in Fundy Bay, Gillies, Greensborough, Harvey Lake, Havelock, Roachville, and Sainte-Marie-de-Kent will be improved over the next several years. Projects will range from system upgrades to the construction of new wastewater treatment facilities. The total federal contribution to the seven projects will be approximately $10 million.
“These projects will ensure responsible management of our water and wastewater, and will help us to assist local service districts in upgrading their infrastructure,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claude Williams. “This helps to foster a cleaner environment and sustainable communities, which contribute to a better quality of life for our residents.”
The projects will not only benefit residents of the seven affected communities, but will also contribute to the health of the Saint John, Petitcodiac, Kennebecasis, and Bouctouche Rivers.
