Premier Tech Aqua (PTA) has announced a new technology that can help clean lakes and watercourses of phosphorous and control blue-green algae blooms. The announcement comes in response to provincial regulations in Québec.
The phosphorous removal and disinfection wastewater treatment chain is certified by the Bureau de normalization du Québec (BNQ), and can produce an effluent matching all provincial regulations. The system consists of the DpEC Self-Cleaning Phosphorous Removal Unit and a sand filter kit. It is the second phosphorus and disinfection septic system developed by PTA and certified by the BNQ.
The new system answers requests from homeowners and municipalities for a solution to phosphorous levels without requiring an ultraviolet (UV) light disinfection system. UV systems require bylaws and significant maintenance.
Roger Lacasse, the vice-president of research and development at PTA, said the treatment is a reliable tool “against the proliferation of blue-green algae and will help protect the health of our lakes and watercourses.”
