The Newfoundland and Labrador government will invest $3.3 million in projects to deliver new facilities, road upgrades, and water and sewer infrastructure for the District of Baie Verte-Springdale. More than $2 million will go toward water and sewer projects.

“This investment of $3.3 million will provide much needed infrastructure in the Baie Verte-Springdale region,” said Dan Crummell, minister of municipal and intergovernmental affairs. “By upgrading roads and water and sewer services, we are ensuring residents have access to improved services.”

The investments in community infrastructure include:

  • $2 million for water and sewer, storm sewer, and paving work on Bayview Road, Hemlock road, Simm’s Road, Normore’s Road, Forest Road, and Whitehorne’s Lane, and the purchase and installation of flow meters in the Town of Springdale;
  • $350,000 for the initial phase of water and sewer extension in the Town of Burlington

Funding for the projects is cost-shared with the provincial government providing 90 per cent of the funding and the community providing 10 per cent.
