On April 15, Peterborough, Ontario’s Fleming College announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with India’s National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC). The agreement, which was signed in conjunction with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Canada, will see Fleming develop training programs in water operations in India.

“In addition to our strength in applied research, Fleming College has the theoretical and hands-on knowledge and expertise to deliver training in the water and wastewater sector,” said Fleming College President Tony Tilly. “We are pleased to partner with India’s National Skills Development Corporation on this important initiative, and look forward to further building our relationship with the NSDC.”

The MOU was signed at a ceremony in Ottawa, and the partnership was endorsed by both Prime Minister Modi and Canadian PM Stephen Harper.

India’s NSDC is responsible for developing skills in numerous sectors in the country, and will work with one institution globally in each of those sectors, ranging from aviation to sports to water.
