On Tuesday October 20, 2015, the Ontario Environment Industry Association (ONEIA) held its Environment Industry Day at the Ontario legislature. Dozens of representatives from clean-tech firms descended on Queen’s Park to discuss issues of concern and raise the visibility of Ontario’s environment sector.

The events was attended by clean-tech firms, senior officials from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and other public officials, including Elenor McMahon, MPP for Burlington, Tim Hudak, MPP Niagara-west, and leader of the Green Party of Ontario, Mike Schreiner.

The event included an afternoon panel of policy experts that spoke about government environmental priorities and an evening reception at the Legislative dining room that was co-hosted by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Hon. Glen Murray.

ONEIA convened several of its working groups, including its Water Working Group, to present position papers on member priorities.

Ellen McGregor, CEO and President of Fielding Chemical Technologies was awarded with the annual Errick Skip Willis Award for outstanding leadership and a track record for raising awareness of and creating action to enable the environmental industry sector in Ontario.

Hon. Glen Murray noted that the province’s environment industry is well positioned to develop the technologies and adaptation strategies that the world needs to meet this challenge.

Established in 1991, ONEIA is the business association representing the interests of the environment industry in Ontario.
