The Saskatchewan town of Ituna will receive joint federal and provincial funding to help complete upgrades to its water supply infrastructure. The project will include the construction of a new well near the town’s water treatment plant, updated pumps, and an update to the existing well, which will ensure the reliable supply of clean drinking water.
Ottawa and Saskatchewan will each contribute $124,000 toward the project through the Communities Component of the Building Canada Fund, while the town will cover the remainder of the total $372,000 price tag.
Once complete, the project will increase the efficiency and reliability of the water treatment plant and distribution system, and meet expansion needs accommodating growth in the community.
“The Town of Ituna and surrounding rural area is very pleased and grateful for the federal and provincial government’s continued financial commitment to rural Saskatchewan infrastructure needs and requirements,” said Ituna mayor Joe Garchinski. “This joint funding partnership has provided our residents and businesses confidence and peace of mind in having a safe and dependable water system, not only today, but for many years to come.”
