Due to funding from the federal and provincial levels of governments, the Municipality of Saint-Isidore, Quebec now has new drinking water and wastewater treatment systems.
‟The Government of Quebec works in a spirit of collaboration with municipalities to help them renew their public infrastructure,” said Dominique Vien, MNA for Bellechasse, Minister Responsible for Labour, and Minister Responsible for the Chaudière‒Appalaches Region. “The funding provided to Saint-Isidore to carry out this important work will have a positive impact on our people and on the environment as well as generating economic benefits at the local and regional levels.”
Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Amarjeet Sohi, and Vien highlighted the completion of work on Saint-Isidore’s drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities, made possible by government funding of over $11.3 million. The municipality contributed more than $2 million for a total government-municipal investment of more than $13.4 million.
“It is a pleasure to take part in this announcement marking the end of a project that attests to the positive collaboration between the Government of Québec and its partners,” said Laurent Lessard, Minister of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Transport Electrification. “Our part in this major extensive investment involved work on President Kennedy Avenue, which has helped improve this important regional link and increase safety in the area for both drivers and pedestrians.”
A total of $11.3 million in government assistance is going to this project:
- $9,588,253 from the Quebec Municipal Water Infrastructure Program (PRIMEAU);
- $443,894 from the federal Gas Tax Fund and Quebec’s contribution;
- $1.3 million from the Department of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Transport Electrification for joint work on President Kennedy Avenue.
