AECOM Technology Corporation has been awarded a $2.3-million contract by the Region of Peel for improvements to the region’s Lakeview Water Treatment Plant in Mississauga, Ontario.

Improvements will include a retrofit and rehabilitation of the existing 400 mega-litre per day conventional filtration systems and tanks, construction of a new 400 mega-litre per day ultraviolet treatment system, and upgrades to the 1,150 mega-litre per day process treatment waste facility. AECOM is responsible for design and contract administration services.

“Our technical experts and professionals are focused on making this project a success for the region,” said AECOM project manager Brian Sahely in a release. “Many team members have worked on the expansion of the neighbouring 500 millilitres per day Lorne Park Water Treatment Plant, and their knowledge and experience will play a key role in delivering these upgrades.”

Design of the project is underway, with construction expected to be completed by mid-2016.
