Saskatchewan Town Opens New Water Treatment Plant

The Town of Cupar, Saskatchewan, has opened the doors of a new water treatment plant, with the help of funding efforts from all three levels of government and SaskWater. The $7-million reverse osmosis plant features a demineralization system.

The provincial and federal governments combined to contribute $3.428 million to the project, with the Town of Cupar adding $550,000. SaskWater, which own and will operate the plant, will invest around $3 million.

“We’re very pleased to be providing service to the Town of Cupar,” said Ken Cheveldayoff, Minister responsible for SaskWater. “The new treatment plant is current with the best technologies available today and serves as a model for projects going forward. Cupar’s water now meets and surpasses provincial standards for drinking water quality.”
