CWN launches ambitious strategic plan to tackle water challenges

The Canadian Water Network (CWN) has unveiled its new strategic plan for 2024 to 2029, aiming to foster cross-sector collaboration in addressing the critical water challenges affecting communities, health, and the climate.

Based in Waterloo, Ont., the CWN is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization that fosters cross-sector collaboration to address water challenges and opportunities that affect Canadian communities, health and climate.

The new strategic plan focuses on three core program areas:

1. Water and Communities: This program supports leaders in making informed decisions about essential water services, including drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater management.

2. Water and Health: Aimed at protecting public health from water-related risks, this program also promotes proactive solutions to enhance overall health outcomes.

3. Water and Climate: Focused on increasing climate resilience and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, this program assists communities and water-dependent economic sectors in finding sustainable solutions.

According to CWN, “The new strategic plan represents a significant step forward in addressing Canada’s water challenges. By promoting collaboration and leveraging diverse expertise, CWN is poised to make a substantial impact on water systems, public health, and climate resilience over the next five years.
